Want to help a school in need learn about conservation
and preservation?

Contribute now to our Adopt a School Fund and help send a Title 1 school on an educational field trip to Sandoway Discovery Center!

117 out of 185 schools in Palm Beach County are Title I schools, which means a majority of their students are on a reduced or free lunch. Because their funding is limited, they rarely get a chance to go on field trips or to learn outside of the classroom.

Why is it important for these students to visit the Sandoway Discovery Center and participate in our Junior Naturalist Program?

It has been demonstrated that students who are economically or academically disadvantaged increase their understanding and sustain material retention from activity-based programs that allow interation with the materials through sight, sound and touch. Sandoway's Junior Naturalist Program uses artifacts and hands-on activities as well as, "live" animal encounters to create a memorable educational experience that helps students succeed at test taking and decision making inside and outside of the classroom.

These children have little experience with nature or knowledge of conservation. We need passionate advocates for our environment's future and through this program, we feel we can engage and teach these students to become scientists, environmentalists or well educated adults.

With your help, we will be able to offer free or drastically reduced rates to Title I school students and aftercare faciliites as well as pay for transportation to the Sandoway Discovery Center.
